Number One!

I defeated that dude with my name that plays football and thought he could take the number one spot on the google search for jermil.

I noticed it over the weekend when I saw that someone came to my blog because they google searched my wicked name. I was surprised that they went down to number 4 or 5 beyond those football player results. I did the search myself to see if maybe I had moved up at all. To my surprise, I was alllllllll the way up to numero uno!

One of the things I did was update my about page. I think by actually putting intelligent, interesting content on there and more people going to that page boosted my ranking.

Also, I’ve had new visitors to my blog lately. And I’ve been commenting on the ones that I’ve been reading. So my name and website are a few extra places on the internet and google is giving me props.

I also posted about a wider range of topics. That’s easy for me to do since I don’t have a niche for my blog. I just post about the things that happen to me and I think I do things that don’t relate to each other. That probably won’t help a lot of bloggers since most blogs are about one particular topic. The next couple of blogs that I start will be have a niche so I can take time to learn about different things. They’ll be about things that I know a little bit about and want to know more. In order to write about it, I need to know about it right?

I did a couple more things as well to get myself back to number one. If you want help, shoot me an email or leave a comment here and I’ll tell you.

My cat used to eat my plants. I had to put them up on a stand that I bought from IKEA.

Plant stand from IKEA

I bought new pots from Home Depot and filled them up with dirt before I put new plants in them. I found out that my cat was relieving herself in them. That was sad and I thought I had to get rid of the dirt and the pot. But since I’m lazy most of the time, I decided to put the pot on my balcony.

When I repotted my aloe plant last week, I decided to drop a few seeds into the pot with the cat urine and see if anything happens.

I checked on it yesterday and saw that the seeds were actually sprouting in the cat urine pot.

Therefore, I think cat piss is better for your plants than anything else!

Skinny dudeI saw the crazy old guy again that I talked about in this post. I don’t see him too often anymore but when I do, he brings a smile to my face as I think about how crazy he must really be and how many fetuses (feti?) he must’ve eaten in his lifetime.

I saw him in the hall last Thursday as I was walking to the gym at work. He said hey to me. (I wonder if he remembers telling me that horrible joke.) I asked him, “Harya?”, like I say to everyone I see in the hallway that isn’t too scared to make eye contact. He told me that he’s “making progress… I think…”

I wanted to drop to the floor right there in the middle of the hallway. I think I ruptured my spleen trying to hold in the laughter. Most people say I’m alright or good or something generic. He actually told me how something in his life is actually going. I think if I stopped, he would’ve told me his whole life story and how he feels that now, at 85 years old, he thinks he’s finally making progress in his waste of an existence.

Is that evil enough for ya??? I’m working on it.

Foodless

My latest idea for a life-altering experiment will be to start fasting one day per week.

I thought of this a few weeks ago when I read about the benefits that fasting has on your body. I read about them here (number 3) and here on wikipedia.

I want to do it because I want to see if fasting creates any positive effects on my body. I’ve read that your body uses more of it’s energy for healing and restoration when it doesn’t have to focus on digesting horrible food.

I’ve had to fast for a day before. In my experience, the first day is the WORST. My stomach growls continuously and all you can think of is food. But the second day is way easier. My stomach didn’t growl anymore and I wasn’t worried about food too much.

When???

I’ve been struggling with figuring out a good day to fast every week. I thought Sunday would be best since I’m usually putzing around the house doing nothing and if I didn’t eat that day, it shouldn’t really affect my productivity level. And I usually pig out on Saturdays with massive carbs, massive ice cream, and a splash or two of alcohol. I figured Sunday could be my detoxification day. But I usually spend Sundays with the girlfriend and she isn’t crazy and wants to eat when she’s hungry. It takes a lot of discipline to not eat when someone else is eating in front of you but I know I can do it.

So I’ve been thinking about doing it on Fridays instead. I’ll do it this Friday (today) and see how it works out.
