I defeated that dude with my name that plays football and thought he could take the number one spot on the google search for jermil.
I noticed it over the weekend when I saw that someone came to my blog because they google searched my wicked name. I was surprised that they went down to number 4 or 5 beyond those football player results. I did the search myself to see if maybe I had moved up at all. To my surprise, I was alllllllll the way up to numero uno!
One of the things I did was update my about page. I think by actually putting intelligent, interesting content on there and more people going to that page boosted my ranking.
Also, I’ve had new visitors to my blog lately. And I’ve been commenting on the ones that I’ve been reading. So my name and website are a few extra places on the internet and google is giving me props.
I also posted about a wider range of topics. That’s easy for me to do since I don’t have a niche for my blog. I just post about the things that happen to me and I think I do things that don’t relate to each other. That probably won’t help a lot of bloggers since most blogs are about one particular topic. The next couple of blogs that I start will be have a niche so I can take time to learn about different things. They’ll be about things that I know a little bit about and want to know more. In order to write about it, I need to know about it right?
I did a couple more things as well to get myself back to number one. If you want help, shoot me an email or leave a comment here and I’ll tell you.

Solid example of successful SEO! Evil indeed. Did also notice your ‘+ website’ trick. Smoooth way to filter the spammers!
I forgot I had done that. I’m sure you know that with gmail, you can add a plus sign and whatever you want to your email address before the @. I do that when I sign up on a lot of sites. Some don’t accept it though because it’s not a recognized character in most emails.
You can also add as many periods as you want in your email address and it’ll still go to the same place. So jermil.sadler@gmail.com is the same as j.ermil.sadle.r@gmail.com or any variation. That rocks!
The plus sign doesn’t seem to work on my about page though. When I clicked on it and it opened a new google email, it took out the plus sign. I wonder if I missed any emails because of that. Probably not.
