Start Friday.

I had to get up butt early to get him to the metro. He said he had to be at work 30 minutes before 9:30am. Like I said last time, the ride on the metro would be about 45 minutes so I would have to get him to the stop by 8:15am at the latest to get him there by 9am. With me so far?

When I woke up at my usual time of 8, he was pretty much ready to go. At that point, I decided that I didn’t want to drive all the way to the stop, drop him off, then come back to my place and get ready. It seemed like such a great idea the night before. Oh well. I decided that I could get ready in 15 minutes and be out the door ready for work. And if I was a bit later, who really cares?

I’m pretty sure I got him to the stop late but that’s how the game goes sometimes. When I thought about it, if it took me 15 minutes to get ready, how could I have possibly had him on the train by 8:15? Ah well. He didn’t say anything about it. But I guess he wanted to stay on my good side since I did have to pick him up that evening.

The roommate was supposed to call me and let me know what time he’d be getting off work and when I should pick him up from the station. I told him that morning to call me when he was leaving work then to call me when he got to a certain stop that is about 15 minutes from mine.

He called me to let me know that he was leaving work. During the call, he told me that his dad still hadn’t found him a place to stay. He suggested that we go get something to eat while we waited on his dad to let him know something. I told him that I had plans for the night. He said “oh”. I could hear the rejection in his voice. I felt bad for the little parasite so I told him what the plans were and invited him along. I was planning on playing poker with some coworkers. He decided that it was something he would be interested in.

I sat around for a while as I waited for the call at the 15 minute mark. After a few minutes, I decided I would go to Walmart and see if they had a cheap skateboard there since I didn’t find one the day before. I hadn’t been inside of a Walmart since I left Michigan. I used to go grocery shopping there sometimes when I was in college. He ended up calling again when I was driving to the Walmart. I debated whether to continue on to the store or turn back and wait around for him. Of course I decided to go where I wanted to go.

I got into the store and it seemed really dirty. Either I’ve become extremely persnickety (one of my favorite words by the way) with where I do my discount shopping or that store was overly grimy. I made the effort to trudge through the muck and look for a skateboard. After about 2 minutes in the store, I decided it wasn’t worth it and left.

I got to the stop where I was supposed to pick him up. One would think that since I had gone about 10 minutes out of the way to go skateboard hunting, he would be waiting for me at the station. SHOCKER!!! He wasn’t there. I had to wait at least 10 more minutes before he showed up. Then we were off to my place.

Poker night up next…
