Women Are Not Liars

So I was reading a book called The Way of the Superior Man by David Deida.

He has one chapter named “Women Are Not Liars”. In this chapter, he explains the difference in how men and women answer questions.

Most men are logical and therefore their answer is what it is and what it always will be unless it physically changes somehow. The author puts it as “… the masculine means what it says.”

Most women are emotional and therefore their answer to a question can change based on how they feel at the moment they are asked. The author puts it as “The feminine says what it feels.”

He basically said that to turn a negative answer to a positive, boost a female’s (emotional) state to a more positive one. The example he gave was pretty straightforward but I couldn’t see it working in real life. So I decided to try it for myself.

On Saturday, a friend and I were both a bit tired because I had myself a nice run earlier that day. She watched me run and that can be tiring itself as fast as I was going. After the run, we got to my place and ate rabbit food. Then, I decided we should go to Sam’s Club. While we were waiting to pay for my 50 pound jug of mayonnaise and 35 boxes of waffles, I figured this was the perfect opportunity to try what I had just finished reading.

I asked her if she wanted to go to IKEA afterwards. She’d been to IKEA with me before and she knows that when I’m in there, I’m like Jamaican seeing the snow for the first time. I can be there for hours and leave with nothing but a flower pot.

Any other time, she wouldn’t have minded too much. But that rabbit food wasn’t doing much for sustaining her or me. Plus, I told her we weren’t going to eat out so I’m sure she wanted to get back home soon so the cooking could get started.

So of course she said she didn’t want to go. I could’ve accepted that answer like most guys would have. I didn’t want to go either. I wanted to make my pizza. But I wanted to test this theory.

I got playful and changed her state. She describes it by saying she went from bored to nonchalant. I think it went further than that though. I think it was more like going from bored to slightly pleased.

Either way, I lifted her state a bit and she went from not wanting to go, to not caring if we went or not.

I took that as success and broke the news to her that I didn’t want to go either. I told her about my experiment and what I had learned from the book. She found it funny but I think she was also a bit ruffled that I’m finally catching on.

If you try this, let me know how it goes.

Be well.

Drink of the Week 5-28-07

Bloody Mary

I think it’s because I ate a stalk of celery before I went running on Saturday in 90+ degree weather an didn’t pass out. I also drank plenty of water but still. My image of a Bloody Mary has celery sticking out of it so that’s the drink for this week.

Be well.

The MadMil Workout Plan

Subscribe to my feed Subscribe to the RSS feed

I got a special request for the details of my workout plan. So here it goes.

All weighted exercises go like this:
Whatever weight, then plus 10, then plus 5, then minus 15 or 20 from the starting weight.

Day 1 - Weights
(In no particular order really but mostly this order)

    Bench
    Abs
    Pullover Machine
    Lower Back
(I don’t know what it’s called but) sitting up, back straight, arms outstretched and pull them inwards (I’ll find out what it’s called Wednesday)
    Curls
    Triceps
    End
    Drink plenty of water

Day 2 - Cardio

    Walk one lap
    Run one lap
    Walk 1/2 lap
    Run 2 laps
    Walk 1 lap
    Repeat one time
    Sprint one straightaway
    Walk one curve
    Sprint one straightaway
    Walk one curve (or more)
    End
    Drink plenty of water

Day 3

    Repeat Day 1

Day 4

    Repeat Day 2

Day 5

    Repeat Day 1

Day 6

    Repeat Day 2

Day 7

    Rest

Results

Do it for 3 weeks straight and you’re addicted.
Do it for 4 weeks and you notice a definite difference.
Do it for 6 weeks and you get coworkers asking you about your workout.

Remarks

Take any day off that you want. But know for the rest of the week, you’re working out everyday.

If you’re using a treadmill, then you probably won’t be doing sprints but you can do everything else.

If you have any suggestions or improvements, give them to me.

I Will Never Buy Pizza Again

Subscribe to my feed Subscribe to the RSS feed

(except the middle Jumbo slice)

I don’t recall ever making my own pizza except for those pizza kits that I had to sell as a youth.

But I was at the grocery store with an old friend on Friday and saw pizza crusts. I decided that I’d buy the pack and see what I could make happen.

Please believe that I made the best pizza I’ve ever had.

I even took pictures.

But not to be outdone, I made another pizza on this Memorial Day Monday.

Of course I took pictures of this masterpiece as well.

I’m taking the remainder into work tomorrow to share with someone who loves cooking to make her jealous.

I recommend to all, that are not burdened down by the stresses of life, to make their own pizza and enjoy. I’ll give you my spine-tingling recipe if you wish.

Sports Jacket?

Subscribe to my feed Subscribe to the RSS feed

My dear friends in Northern Virginia.

Where can I get a sports jacket?

I’ve been looking for one for longer than I care to admit.

Of course I’ve seen some. But I haven’t seen one (in my size) that really attracted me.

Therefore, if you can recommend a good place in which I WILL find a sports jacket in Northern Virginia, I don’t know what you want but I will get it for you.

If you want to meet someone but don’t know how, take on my task and I will have this person want to meet you.

If you want a better job, take on my task and I will open that door for you.

And so on.

If you want nothing more than to help me out, do so.

Game on!
