Start Thursday.
He didn’t have to work Thursday so I could go about my normal morning ritual. I had previously asked him if he wanted to get lunch because I knew he would be hungry and I didn’t want him thinking my kitchen was fair game. I told him that I’d get him around noon.
I left work at 11:45 to go pick him up. I called him as I was on my way but he didn’t answer. i was hoping he was awake and would be ready by the time I got there. If he wasn’t, I wasn’t planning to wait for him. When I was around the corner from my place, he called me back. I told him I’d be there in 2 minutes so get ready. He said he was up and ready and all that.
I got into my apartment and he was dressed and everything but he was sitting at his laptop doing who knows what. I hit the bathroom then stood by the front door like lets roll. After sitting there for about 3 more minutes, he got up and we left.
When we got in the car, I asked him if he wanted to eat at Bennigan’s. He said not really. I wanted to eat there and KNEW he didn’t have any other place in mind at all. I asked him where he wanted to go. He had no suggestions or anything. I started driving to Bennigan’s. After about 10 minutes on the road, he decided that he’d like to go to Bennigan’s.
We got to the restaurant and had a seat. I told him I was getting the O’Connor Monte Cristo. He decided he would get the regular Monte Cristo. I got a strawberry lemonade. He decided he wanted one too. I sat through the boring conversation about what it’s like to work housekeeping at a hotel and how long he wants to stay in the DC area and more. Our food finally came and the boredom ended.
When we were both ready to call it quits halfway through those huge sandwiches, the waitress came back and asked us if we wanted another strawberry lemonade. I said no and told her to bring me a box for the rest of that sandwich. He asked for a box and another lemonade. She brought the stuff back and our check. He drank maybe a third of that and said he was ready. I asked him how much he was putting on the check. I figured since it was even except for his unnecessary drink, he would drop an extra bone on it or something. WRONG!!! He said he’d put half on it. I figure he only ordered that drink to get back at me for not paying an extra dollar the night before. Kids these days.
It was only an extra $1.50 out of my pocket but it was the principle of it. He’s staying at my place for nothing!!! The whole meal should’ve been on him! But who cares. I figure this is the one and only day that I’ll have to put up with him so I can brush it off. I got him home as quickly as possible. Then I head back to work.
